Home Respiratory Care Equipment Services

The human body requires up to 90% oxygen to function optimally. The air that we normally breathe in, however, is mainly composed of nitrogen and oxygen, with nitrogen being 78% and oxygen being 21%. Our respiratory system purifies the air we breathe to maximize the oxygen content and supplies it to our body. If the oxygen content in our system decreases significantly, it leads to a condition called hypoxia, and a complete depletion of oxygen leads to a condition called anoxia. Both these conditions can be fatal, since the human brain shuts down if there isn’t sufficient oxygen for around four minutes, and this ultimately leads to death.

There are multiple respiratory conditions that afflict us, such as:

  • Asthma: Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the lung airways that causes coughing, wheezing, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath.
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): COPD is a combination of three related conditions, namely, chronic asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
  • Viral Influenza and Bacterial Pneumonia
  • Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD): ILD is an umbrella term used to describe various ailments like Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis that lead to scarring of the lungs.
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): OSA is a condition where the upper airway collapses for more than 10 seconds at a time, leading to a decrease in the amount of oxygen inhaled and resulting in deep, resonant snoring. Long term effects include continued fatigue, sleepiness, susceptibility to diabetes, high blood pressure, headaches, depression, mood swings and an increased risk of heart related ailments.
  • In order to ensure those afflicted with the above-mentioned ailments have access to medical grade oxygen at home, Oxyease offers the following products for therapeutic purposes on a monthly rental model as well as for sale:

Oxygen Concentrator sucks in air from the room using a compressor, cleans out the nitrogen and delivers 95% medical grade oxygen to the user

Oxygen Concentrator

An Oxygen Concentrator sucks in air from the room using a compressor, cleans out the nitrogen and delivers 95% medical grade oxygen to the user. This is usually recommended for patients suffering from conditions like COPD and ILD in environments where it is too dangerous to use liquid or pressurized oxygen. It functions on the principle of Pressure Swing Adsorption, an air separation technology. Oxygen Concentrators run on electricity, although the consumption is minimal.

Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP):

Commonly known as BI PAP or BIPAP, this machine provides non-invasive pressure support ventilation by generating inspiratory (IPAP) and expiratory (EPAP) pressure gradients to complement the user’s respiratory cycle, increasing the lung’s efficiency and reducing the effort put into breathing. BIPAP has proved to be effective in assisting those suffering from COPD and acute and chronic respiratory failure.

Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP)
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

CPAP is a positive airway pressure ventilator that maintains a mild constant air pressure to keep airways continuously open for people unable to breathe spontaneously by themselves. CPAP is handy in assisting people with conditions like Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Home based Sleep Study:

A sleep study is a non-invasive study that allows doctors to study a patient’s brain and body functions while they sleep in order to diagnose conditions like narcolepsy, OSA, periodic limb movement disorder, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, sleep walking, etc. An EEG is used to monitor sleep stages and cycles (REM, NREM) to identify possible disruptions to normal sleep cycles as well as blood oxygen levels, eye movements, snoring, heart rate, breathing patterns and body movements.

Oxyease offers customers the ease of getting this study done in the comfort of their home. A technologist attaches sensors or electrodes to a subject’s head and body while still allowing for comfortable movement. Polysomnographic technologists observe while the subject sleeps and collect data.
